Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Requirements

Requirement:

When:

1. Credit Counseling

You must receive this counseling 0 to 180 days BEFORE you file for bankruptcy.

Your attorney will recommend a court-approved provider.

2. Debtor Education / Financial Management Course

You must take this course AFTER you file your bankruptcy case.

Your attorney will recommend a court-approved provider.

To receive a bankruptcy discharge, you must file with the court a “Certification of Completion of Financial Management Course” within 60 days after the Meeting of Creditors date.
